I am back, with big plans in mind that I will probably expand on in the future. I have been involved in General Management of companies in Asia since I was very young and now I want to get a bit more technical. I want to focus a bit more on some particular topics I am interested in.
I want to take the GMAT in about a month. I think it’s a great way to refresh one’s mind, and as I want to focus more into data, marketing, statistics… this would be a good way to start. As of now, I don’t even remember what a negative exponent means. There is A LOT of work I need to do and not enough time… so I am gonna take the challenge and try.
I have researched a bit regarding tools to prepare, it is such a big business… and being the skeptical I am, I have decided to not let most of that hype get to me. I am going to take a very relaxed, chilled, but diligent approach. I want to enjoy the process. Taking it in 1 month is not a good idea to be honest… I would really much rather have had 3 month to take it slowly… but I want to test what is the human mind capable of.
My theory is that there is no need for very complex methods. If I am able to re-learn all the basic math principles, I should be able to tackle each question quickly and properly. My focus is going to be in REALLY understanding, in going deep into every question, to understand first what kind of question it is, and to have a strategy to approach each question in a particular way depending on which kind of question it is.
I might fail, not sure, but let’s see… I am going to do my best in this 1 month and see what the outcome is.
I am buying the GMAT official guide, the GMAT Quant Guide, and I will follow the GMAT Prep syllabus. My steps are gonna be as follows:
1. Understand the structure of the exam
2. Have a very clear idea of all the “topics” that are going to be covered in the math section
3. Will approach each “topic” individually and will try to understand the root concepts, then will do exercises and focus on understanding what mistakes I make and why etc… and make sure every time I make a mistake, I correct it in a way that I won’t make it again in the future.
I have confidence that this approach should work, but an issue might be the time. I think 1 month of part time study is not gonna be enough. Anyway lets see.
